POLLUTING

i lost my way in the shallow end of

this river.

the shore is close and your face is written in the sky

but my feet lay tangled within a muddle too deep

so deep i can barely see if its the rain or grains

thats keeping me from stepping out.

if i could, i reckon that it would feel like clouds

dense with tears until it could no longer bear

but the blush they wear everyday the sun kiss them goodnight

is enough to last them days and days

just as i long for myself to spill onto you

your words must weigh enough to make me fly

and your heart must be able to tip me aside

are you yet that heavy? or will you be?

would you tell me where i was.

would your eyes stay open long enough for me to awake.

it's a dark night and they're watching but we don't know

we carried lights but none is brighter than that of a secret

it sees everywhere but we only see the front, 

and the back

shall we walk along with smiles in absolute darkness

when no one can see?
